Yusuf Asamah Kadiri SAN was born to Alhaji Z.O. Kadiri and Princess Fatima Kadiri (neé Momoh), both renown educationists in the Midwest Region and later Bendel State. His mother was one of the grandchildren of HRH Otaru Momoh Jimah Momoh (the 7^th Otaru of Auchi from 1955 to 1970), and the great-grandchild of Momoh the First.

He had his early education in Abudu, Auchi, Ikpeshi and South Ibie, before proceeding to the prestigious Federal School of Arts and Science in Sokoto State, bagging his General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Levels. He attended the University of Benin in Edo State, bagging his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) in 1993 and his license qualification (BL) from the Nigerian Law School before he was called to become a solicitor and advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He obtained advanced degrees in International Business Law from the Boston University School of Law in Massachusetts, United States, and Practice Diploma in Commercial Arbitration (DipClArb) from the Kebble College, Oxford University in the United Kingdom.

Asamah, as he is fondly called by close friends, is a renown commercial lawyer. He cut his legal teeth under the tutelage of Chief Femi Okunnu SAN, second republic minister of works and housing before joining the firm of Jackson, Etti and Edu where he rose to partner, and leads the litigation and dispute resolution practice and public sector.

He wears many hats as a litigator, arbitrator and mediator. His practice cuts across several domains in the Nigerian economy, for example, labour and cross-border disputes resolution, aviation law, real estate, oil and gas; energy and power,  health services and pharmaceuticals, corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisition advisory; intellectual property rights and enforcement, and environmental law, to mention but a few.

In October 2020, he was conferred with the highest rank in the legal profession in Nigeria as the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), equivalent of the Queen’s Counsel in England, becoming the first Momoh descendant and indeed Ikelebe descendant, and the second in Auchi to attain the enviable rank.

Yusuf Asamah Kadiri SAN is also involved in community service. He served as President of Etsako Club 81 from 2017 to 2019. Prior to being elected President of the club, he had served in various capacities in the club from 2011. Etsako Club 81 is the elite club of Etsako indigenes who have attained the highest standing in their professions and use the club as a non-profit avenue to foster economic, social, cultural, educational, health and infrastructural growth of Etsako people in the homeland and worldwide. Asamah also midwifed the formation of the Auchi Development Foundation (ADF), a body geared towards the political, social, educational and cultural advancement of the Auchi Sacred Kingdom.

Asamah was also active in the Nigerian Bar Association when he served as Chairman of Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Committee, member of Constitutional Review Committee and member of the National Executive Committee for 11 years.

In recognition of his service to Auchi community, the nation at large and as one of the leading lawyers in corporate and commercial dispute resolution, Prince Yusuf Asamah Kadiri SAN was turbaned the Yerima of Auchi Sacred Kingdom in May 2021.

He is recognized as one of the Momoh descendants who nurtured the Momoh legacy through service to the community and excellence in his professional deliverables.
