Princess Bekisu Esther Momoh-Aliu was born on the 22nd of February, 1938 at Auchi to late Princess Ina Fatimah and late Prince Audu A. MOMOH, the thirteenth son of Momoh the First.
While her dad worked with United African Company (UAC), Idah, she attended Government School, Auchi; Awolowo Secondary Modern School, Auchi; University College Hospital, Ibadan; St. Andrew’s Hospital, Bow, London; Paddington College of Further Education, London; Leeds Polytechnic, Yorkshire and the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel, London, United Kingdom.
Bekisu retired as a midwife and a UK Registered General Nurse and she holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Dietetics/Nutrition.
Her working experience began as a staff nurse in the UK Collingdale and Whittington Hospitals. She moved to Charing-Cross Hospital (under University of London) as a Dietician and Head of Dietetics Department/Lecturer in Dietetics to clinical medical students and student nurses.
Returning to Nigeria, she undertook similar duties at the Ahmadu Bello University, Institute of Health, Zaria. She later joined the Kaduna Polytechnic as a Senior Lecturer/Deputy Head of Department of Food Science and Catering Services and was consultant to the FESTAC’77 (Second World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture).
In private business, she registered Abinci International Nigeria Limited, Wholesome Foods and Herbs Company and was later elected as Vice-President of the Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture. She founded the BM Institute of Catering, Tourism and Management, Zaria and the Momaly Youth Foundation (NGO), Auchi.
The foundation of her herbal knowledge was laid through family background, strengthened with private studies and research under the late Professor Musa Shok, the then Head of Department of Pharmacognosy, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
She has many publications, journals and research work to her name and she is the Author of the books: “FROM UPBRINGING TO HEALTHY ADULTHOOD: the Role of Parents and Society”, “FOODS AND HERBS FOR RADIANT HEALTH AND SPIRITUAL ASCENT”, first published in 2007.
She is a member of numerous professional bodies including The Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), The Nigerian Society of Pharmacognosy (Herbs). She is also an adherent of THE GRAIL MESSAGE, IN THE LIGHT OF TRUTH, BY ABD-RU-SHIN.
Married to late Mr. C.Y. ALIU, she is mother to HASSAN, HUSSAINA AND GAMBO, she has numerous siblings and grandchildren.
