Prince Momoh Sanni Momoh, more popularly known as M.S. Momoh was born on 12^th October.

He began his education in 1944 at the CMS School between 1944 and 1946, and Saint Paul’s Catholic School in Sakponba, Benin City from 1946 until 1948. He completed his primary education at Government School Auchi in 1951.

He could not attend secondary school even though he got admission, due to lack of funds. He opted to teach from 1954 to 1955, and attended Government Teacher Training College, Abraka from 1955 to 1958. On completion of his education, he took up a teaching career from 1959 that saw him in  various posts in the Midwest Region, now Edo State.

He transferred his services to the civil service in 1965 and was posted to the community development in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. He took a study leave to the United Kingdom in 1979 and obtained a higher education diploma in community development and adult education at Queen Victoria University, Manchester. Upon his return in 1982, he was transferred to the state capital and retired from service in 1989 as a director in the civil service.

Despite being in retirement, he was drafted as Supervisory Councilor for education from 1990 to 1991 in Auchi, and as Chairman of Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board from 1996 until 1999 with the responsibility of leading Edo State pilgrims to the Muslim Holy Sites in Saudi Arabia. 

Prince M.S. Momoh shared a bond with his brothers like they were brought up. However, he was especially close to Prince Michael Aliu “Washington” Momoh, who he reported took care of his family when he studied in the United Kingdom. They were so close that the bought and wore similar clothes. Their affinity became an example of what Momoh the First instituted when children of different mothers grew under one roof. Both brothers constantly spent their evenings together with two other brothers (Prince R.Y. Momoh and Prince A.M.J. Momoh). With nostalgia, Prince M.S. Momoh stayed beside his brother when he was hospitalized and only left to go home to change his clothes only to receive news that his brother had passed.

The closeness of Prince M.S. Momoh and Prince Michael Aliu “Washington” Momoh also extended to their respective children, who naturally formed the habit of looking after each other.
